It was a pleasure to work with Sandra again for her 2nd Psalms record. All of these songs recorded live, back in january, in my home, with an amazing team of musicians. As always, it is a true pleasure to record music and work with Sandra - she's one of the most genuinely talented people I've ever worked with. the real deal, for sure. I really like how this record feels and how this music came together. it's a good batch of songs; definitely check this record out!
Minneapolis native Austin Plaine came to Nashville and we worked together for a week on his next record. A very cool collection of songs being produced by Jay Foote, drums by Brian Griffin. A pleasure to host Austin, Jay, and Beth for a week. I didn't take many pictures because we were mostly working on music. 10 songs coming together nicely. Looking forward to this record!
Corey is a good friend of mine from Birmingham. I played piano on his new record, which is an honest country record, the likes of which are hard to come by. Thanks, Corey. Solid songwriting, my friend.
I've been writing songs and making a mess with Brian Elmquist for quite a few years now. and I was delighted when I learned he was moving to Nashville just a few months after me. His latest side project is a really fun band full of some of my favorite people, including one of my best friends in the world Clint Wells on guitar. Hugh Masterson on bass and Justin Glasco on drums. this was a fun night at the Crying Wolf in East Nashville where we packed out the room and just played some music. Thanks Brian, this is some of the most fun I've had making music in awhile. photo credit from another brooklyn native: trisha ivy
I got a call from producer Austin Moorhead to work on Teresa Guidry's new record. I had a good time at this great studio laying down organ, piano, wurli, and some weird synth stuff. Wonderful day of tracking at Sound Emporium on a fun record. Teresa is a great singer who just competed in the last season of "The Voice". Look for this EP to be out within a couple months.
Kaitlyn is a fantastic songwriter, currently living and working in Chicago. I first met her in Brooklyn, and we've been working together on some of the most beautiful songs. She traveled to Nashville and to work with me and Brian Elmquist (of the Lone Bellow) to finalize some of the pre-production and record some proper demos. Looking forward to beginning work on her record very soon.
I've been real good friends with the Jamie McLean band for a real long time (some of the first friends I made when I moved to NYC). I've been in more bands with the rythym section (Brian Griffin and Ben Mars) than I can count, and Jamie is a true sweetheart who I am happy to host every time he's in town. It was a pleasure to have these three dudes in town and also to play on a few songs on Jamie's new record, produced by Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris).
Micah Dalton is in town and we're recording a song we wrote together last month. Micah is a songwriter based out of Atlanta - we met while we were both living and making music in Brooklyn. Always a great hang with this guy -
I've never been to Big Bend, and I always wanted to go. I had a week off, and a friend was able to get away, so we loaded up the motorcycles and camping gear and made our way to the desert. there's nothing like riding motorcycles through the mountains and desert all day, and then sleeping out under the stars at night. unbelievable.
been making some music with sean mcConnell. its always a treat to hit the road and make music with great people, and this crew is always fun to spend some time with away. sean has a new record out this year, with I think his best songs yet, and this guy and can truly sing his ass off. excited to see where this music goes -
