I’m a producer & engineer. I'm also a musician and a songwriter. I had a studio in brooklyn for 5 years and now have a studio tucked away in the woods just outside of nashville. I love working on new music and have been fortunate to work with some amazing artists. I’ve played and / or recorded with: the lone bellow, greg holden, sandra mccracken, drew & ellie holcomb, andrew rose gregory, griffin house, thad cockrell, sean mcconnell, war jacket, red mountain music, bifrost arts, and many many others -
I work with both full bands and individual songwriters. I've done a number of film scores and instrumental / ambient records. I've also composed music for commercials. But mostly what I focus on is songwriting and making records. I'm regularly meeting with people for songwriting sessions, and the process toward completing a record is, to me, the most satisfying creative endeavor.
For me it all goes together - songwriting, rehearsing, playing music live, touring, sharing life with musicians, producing records - it all connects. I’ve learned how to produce records very gradually, over many years. its maybe my favorite thing about making music - you can always improve, and the best music is still ahead.
I enjoy the pre-production process of record making - thinking carefully about songs and arrangements and lyrics - all of it. and I enjoy thinking about how a song translates to an audience, and how it translates into a recording. its a lot to balance, and every band and artist is unique.
I am very collaborative and enjoy being able to bring my very talented, musical friends to join in the process - whether it be a certain background vocalist, a producer friend with a good insight for a specific song, or the perfect drummer, guitar, or pedal steel player - I love bringing talented, kind people together, and watching magic happen.
I enjoy working out of my studio in nashville, but my rig is also fully mobile. several times a year I travel and I transform a cabin, or a lodge, or a home, or really any place - into a recording studio - its one of the best ways to make records and I’m thankful I get to do it. if this is something you are interested in, we should talk about it. I'd love to work with you.
I am thankful for every opportunity to create and explore new music and I’m honored to get to play with some of the greatest musicians I’ve ever met. excited about the journey - and the songs we’re all finding along the way -
